We received word early this morning that our Director of Children’s Ministry, Tamara Bowers, has tested positive for COVID-19. Please remain in prayer for her and her family. Because she spoke up immediately when she noticed symptoms, we were able to pre-emptively cancel KID Connection yesterday and avoided any exposure to children while she was awaiting results. Based on the CDC’s best exposure timeline models, we do not believe that any children who attended KID Connection last week (January 6) were exposed, and we have been directly in contact with several parents whose children attended Sunday School this past weekend. Mrs. Tamara was in close contact with other church staff earlier this week before symptoms began but followed all established precautions (temperature check, mask, physical distancing).
In accordance with CDC guidelines, we are pausing all in-person activities while the rest of our church staff quarantines. Our church office will remain closed during this time, but you are welcome to leave voicemail messages or email as needed. As long as no other staff members exhibit symptoms, in-person activities will resume with Family Style worship on Saturday, January 23 and Traditional Worship on Sunday, January 24.
Worship this coming weekend, January 16 & 17, will be online-only, as will Pastor's Bible Study next Wednesday, January 20. We strongly encourage all of you, if you have not already done so, to follow the church on social media for the latest news and updates - please visit fumcburleson.org/online for more information. Live stream broadcasts are available at fumcburleson.org/live or via Facebook Live.
We are grateful for your continued support as we seek to offer the very best ministry in the most safe and effective way. Our entire staff extends our prayerful gratitude to you and is devoted to keeping you in our prayers.
Keep the Faith,
