Most people know the start of the Book of Exodus … the cries of Israel in exile in Egypt … the summoning of Moses with a burning bush … the epic clash between Pharaoh and Moses … the flight across the Reed Sea and the destruction of Pharaoh’s army of chariots. It is a dramatic and powerful story of God’s triumph in saving God’s chosen people. But what comes after that? Forty years of wilderness wandering so that God can form a holy nation to settle the promised holy land. What are the lessons to be gleaned from that long journey? What wisdom can be shared? As we still continue to heal from our wilderness wanderings of the last year, have we learned anything new about ourselves, our community, and the world around us?
