An Extraordinary LoveMay 23, 2020
On April 7, we celebrated the 2nd Birthday of the Family Style Community. As far as celebrations go, it was a low-key affair, for reasons that are widely known. Namely, we all had to stay home. Yet, even in this time of social distance, we’re managing to flourish and grow in different ways as we’re learning together what it means to be a church family, centered on Christ, for the good of our surrounding community. Paul’s Letter to the Colossians is a letter to a new faith community. In this letter, Paul reminds them of a few essential truths of the Christian faith: In Christ we are rescued. In Christ we are rooted to grow. In Christ we are one. In Christ we can change for the better. In Christ we are truly loved. In Christ, we are part of an extraordinary love story, in which the people who follow Jesus have persevered in incredibly uncertain times again and again, by focusing on one purpose: to become more like Jesus. It’s time for some encouragement. It’s time for a reminder of who God wants us to be. It’s time for a renewal of purpose. It’s time to focus on Jesus. On May 23, we begin a 5-week series on Paul’s hopeful letter to the church of his time, but also to us. Join us every Saturday night at 6pm on Facebook Live on the Family Style Burleson! You have a place at the table.
