ABOUT FIRST KIDS

Our Children's Ministry is a place where faith, imagination, and learning go hand-in-hand. Through creative, active, age-appropriate, and Bible-based programs and experiences, children are guided and encouraged to grow in their faith and become deeply committed followers of Jesus Christ.

We joyfully serve infants through 5th grade. Whether you're a guest for the first time or you've been here for years, you will sense the excitement and feel the love of Christ as you enter our doors. We welcome you and look forward to seeing you soon! Parents & Guardians, make sure to fill out the First Kids program registration for your child(ren):

Nursery

Infants through age 5 are cared for by our fun, loving nursery staff during all worship services, the Sunday School hour, and church-wide special events. Parents check in as they enter the Children's Wing, and the nursery for infants through 2 years is located immediately on the left. We offer a second nursery for kids ages 3-5 in room 205.  We notify parents as urgent needs arise, and all nursery workers must pass a background check and complete MinistrySafe training. Children age 4 are included in Children's Sunday School on Sunday mornings at 10:00am and may leave nursery to participate at the request of the parent.

SUNDAY SCHOOL

Time: Sundays, 10:00-10:45am
Location: Children's Wing

For children age 4 through 5th grade, Sunday School is a chance to dig deep into God's Word. Children will have super adventures, hear exciting Bible stories, and learn how to live as disciples of Jesus Christ. We believe that the Bible is more than just a big book of stories - it's a gift to us. Children learn with hands-on experiences that the Bible is meant to be opened, explored, and enjoyed!

K.I.D. Connection

Time: Wednesdays, 3:30-5:00pm (during the school year)
Location: Worship Center

K.I.D. Connection (Kids in Discipleship) is an exciting part of our Wednesdays at First program where children in Kindergarten through 5th grade gather to have fun together and learn more about God. Through Bible stories, hands-on activities and crafts, music, and much more, children are able to explore the beginnings of faith and develop deeper relationships with each other.

K.I.D. Connection follows the Burleson Independent School District calendar. In case of bad weather, holiday, or other major events, parents should look for notice from the Burleson ISD website.

Children's CHOIR

As part of our K.I.D. Connection program, children K - 5th grade participate in Children's Choir. We prepare music to sing in worship as they learn musical and spiritual concepts, and each child is encouraged and affirmed in the gifts and talents they have to offer to our church. They prepare music for worship as well as special musicals during the year.

Children's handbells & Handchimes

As part of our K.I.D. Connection program, children K - 5th grade also participate in Children's Handbells & Handchimes. Children nourish a love of music through fun activities and exercises, learning a wide repertoire of songs, and developing skill with music fundamentals such as rhythm and pitch. Weekly rehearsals help instill confidence as the children prepare to present their hard work as they lead in worship.

ACOLYTES

We value the participation of our children in worship, not just sitting back watching. Our Acolytes program trains interested children once a semester in how to carry the light of Christ as worship begins, lighting candles at the front of the worship center. This symbolic gesture is is one way we reflect our belief that our children aren't just the future of the church: they are the church right now.

Confirmation

Graduating 5th graders and other interested youth are invited each Spring to be a part of our annual Confirmation Class. These students meet weekly with pastors and other staff to have fun, ask hard questions, and dig in deep about what it means to be a committed follower of Jesus and a member of a church. At the conclusion of the meetings, interested students are welcome to be baptized (if they haven't already), profess faith in Jesus Christ, and become full-fledged members of the church during worship.

Our Children's Ministry enthusiastically offers annual special events that are great opportunities to welcome and host children and families in our local community. We strongly encourage you to invite friends, extended family, and neighbors to participate because they are great chances to have fun together!
