Christmas in Burleson 2020
There are so many exciting things about Christmas and we have enjoyed connecting with you this past holiday season. We have events for the whole family throughout Advent, the season of preparation, as we await the birth of Christ.
Take a look below to read about our past activities from 2020!
As we walked through advent together, our worship series challenged us.
To wonder is often considered to be a childish thing. Wondering keeps our heads in the clouds, when we’re supposed to be grounded in reality.
What if … however … wondering is essential to the Christian life? What if cultivating wonder, imagination, awe in one another at the ways of God keeps us more focused on the love we are to share during this season of gift giving?
We were blessed with opportunities to wonder at the beauty of God's work to redeem Creation through the coming of his Son, Jesus Christ.
Songs of the Season
A free, special musical offering from the Music Ministry at FUMC Burleson took place during Traditional Worship, featuring soloists and orchestra. What a great opportunity it was to rejoice, renew, and reflect as we celebrated and anticipated the coming of Jesus!
Do Not Be Afraid: A Virtual Christmas Pageant
We joined in online for the Christmas Pageant, brought to you by the Children's Ministry of FUMC Burleson. There was so much fun (and dedication!) from the children of our church at home telling the story of the coming of the baby Jesus Christ, God's own Son.
We had the chance to form small groups that sang Christmas Carols to members of our church family who either cannot easily get out during the holidays, or those who chose to stay home out of an abundance of caution. It was fun for all and much merriment was had!
Decorate & Celebrate
We decorated Christmas trees in anticipation of our outdoor Christmas Eve service! We had a decoration station set up in the Barn by the church's back parking lot, and families and friends brought their own ornaments and let their creativity loose! These trees were used as a backdrop for our outdoor Candles & Carols service on Christmas Eve.
We celebrated and worshiped together on Christmas Eve, providing ways for families of all shapes and sizes to come together to celebrate the birth of Christ. We had two online-only services (Family Style and Traditional) and provided free bags in advance with take-home supplies for candle-lighting, activities for children, and more so that everyone can participate. We also had an outdoor Candles & Carols service!
