When Paul McCartney penned and put to melody the iconic words, "When I find myself in times of trouble, Mother Mary comes to me speaking words of wisdom, let it be. And in my hour of darkness she is standing right in front of me, speaking words of wisdom, let it be." he was referring to his own mother, Mary. She died about ten years prior to a dream he had about her, at a time that he was troubled and anxious, and she spoke to him words of wisdom which gave him a feeling of peace.
When the Israelites found themselves in times of trouble and in an hour of darkness without food and believing they would die, they turned to Moses to complain again, and once again Moses turned to God and once again God provided! God gave them bread and quail. What a feast! God provided sustenance for their journey.
When you find yourself anxious, troubled, or in the midst of turbulent times, who or what sustains you and gives you a sense of peace and calming reassurance?
(God and Jesus are good answers, but not necessarily the only answers...)
