Pancake Dinner

Join us for pancakes and some fun as we prepare to enter the season of Lent. Shrove Tuesday is the day before Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent. Traditionally, people would use all the butter, sugar and other goodies before heading into a time of reflection in preparation for Easter. We will eat pancakes, play pancake games and enjoy time together. The dinner is free but we are taking a love offering to support the ministries of the church.
The Tuesday before Ash Wednesday is traditionally known as Shrove Tuesday. It marks the last day before lent begins and is often celebrated with a pancake dinner to signify the end of indulgence and the beginning of sacrifice during lent. Shrove comes from the word "shriven" which means absolved. For the past several years we have celebrated this occassion with a church wide pancake dinner - complete with yummy pancakes, breakfast meats, fruit and pancake games! Dinner is free but donations will be accepted. We hope you are able to join us!
